It is important for children this age to count coins. We have learned to count by 5's and 10's in kindergarten, first grade, and even second grade. Hmmmm now we know why.... because you use those skills in counting coins! Aha! If you can not find change at home then try out this FREE app on the iPad or smart phone: Count Money! by: Horizons
Today we got to eat our snack that we read about in our SUPER magazine. It was yummy: vanilla yogurt, graham crackers, and a few chocolate sprinkles. I heard lots and lots of rave reviews! Try it at home!
On Friday we explored the possibility of air in water. Sinking, floating, and bubbles. Hmmm did we learn some wet facts!
Our whole school created and Valentine Cards for all of the clients of the Meals on Wheels program in the Greater Lafayette area. It is amazing what we can accomplish when we all get together for the greater good! They will go out in the meals on Monday.
Today we worked on our blankets for the dialysis patients in Illinois. The children loved working with a partner! Everyone believes these blankets were made with love and they WILL be loved, too! How sweet to teach in such a loving environment.
I think our future will be in good hands. We had teachers, veterinarians, engineers, secret service, a pilot for Air Force One, basketball and baseball players, ballerinas, artists, and many other careers represented. What a fun look at our future!
I realized that I misplaced some Advent photos of some very special activities. So, here they are! We enjoyed the kindergarten leading us in Los Posados during our last Monday morning assembly before Christmas break, St. Lucia came to visit on her feast day with a cookie treat for everyone at lunch, and our very own Advent Program complete with singing and music!
