She talked with us about never giving up on challenging situations. She brought along Little Critter who talked with us about why it is important to never give up when things get tough.
In our SUPER magazine we read about healthy snacks. Today we got to follow the directions and make a snack to eat. They were yummy and fun! We decided we would love to try this at home. If you do, take a picture and send it to Mrs. Skiba. Apples, mini marshmallows, and strawberry cream cheese. They know what to do!
Today we celebrated Mary, Our Mother's, birthday. We started our day with an All School Mass and wrote an entry in our prayer journals about ways we can honor her today. Our fabulous room mom, Mrs. Metzger brought in homemade, delicious cupcakes for us to celebrate! We sang "Happy Birthday" to Mary and enjoyed our very special treat. What a great day for celebrating Mary's birthday at school!
Today we learned about nouns and verbs. We used a strategy called think, pair, share. Think (come up with an answer to share), pair (partner up), share (share your reasons why with your partner). They were very successful. They came up with 21 verbs and 21 nouns from one picture. Way to go! They could've kept going, too. Very impressive!
Today we had our first time for adoration in the Cathedral with our Kindergarten Buddies. Father Neterer led us in prayer and song. We enjoyed spending some quiet time with our Lord. We even prayed some special prayers from our very own Prayer Journals.
Father Neterer came in and explained how the Bishop ordained him as a priest. He used Bishop Patrick and Father Kai as examples for the class to see and understand. We got our first issue of SUPER and we got to work with a partner to fill out a worksheet about using the Table of Contents.Today was our first day of school! We are so glad to be in second grade. Today the weather was a little wet, so we stayed inside for recess. We made lots of new friends and played some really neat games.
Our blankets found a home! The Veteran's Home in West Lafayette saw one of our blankets and begged for more. So, if you attend Mass on a Saturday evening at 7:15 out there, you may just very well see a Veteran with one of our blankets. The children loved making the blankets and they are very excited to know that they are to be used. Thank you so much for your prayers and support during this project. It was such a success that I will find a way to continue on with a service project every year in room 2.
Who has a longer arm? Who has a larger head? Would you use a ruler or tape measure for that measurement? More inches or more yards? These are just some of the questions that were floating around our room while we used our measuring skills with a partner. This is a skill that they usually have zero practice of doing until we get to this topic. It has been kind of challenging for some of them, but they have come a long way. Keep practicing at home!
